GROUND N’ GRAVITY – IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR

EDMONTON, AB (January 2, 2017) – The Motorcycle & ATV Show – Edmonton will kick start the 2017 riding season. This is the industry’s premiere event showcasing the line-up of all the new motorcycles, scooters, ATVs and side-by-sides. The Show takes place at the Expo Centre, Northlands, January 13-15th.

“The freestyle show has always been a crowd pleaser and it is definitely one of my personal favorites,” says Laurie Paetz, Show Manager “it is always action packed as well as entertaining, and this year the Show will incorporate three disciplines; freestyle, stunt riding, and Observed Trials.”

The 2017 Ground n’ Gravity Show is family entertainment at its best, with ramp to ramp high flying action by some of Canada’s best freestylers, street stunts on the arena floor by none other than Craig Latimer, and this year Jordan Szoke will demonstrate the control and focus necessary to maneuver obstacles on his Trial bike. With a little encouragement Wolfgang, Jordan’s four year old son may hop on his bike and give it a try, making this a true family affair.

A highlight for the younger members of the family is the Yamaha Riding Academy. Kids between the ages of 6 and 12 can sign up to participate in a session that begins with expert instruction on riding technique and safety, and then has them gear up and take to the track to practice their skills, all in a controlled supervised environment.

If your kids have a genuine interest in riding, stop by and chat with Jonathan Finn who began riding at the age of five and started competing in Mini Road Racing when he was only six. He travels the world racing and has 24 podium finishes and 14 race wins. His Dad will also be on hand to provide interested families with a parent’s perspective.

Clinton Smout’s “How to Sessions” are extremely informative and provide practical advice on some very common riding issues like the proper technique to picking up a fallen bike or riding on loose gravel. These tips and techniques are invaluable for riders of any level.

She Rides takes place on Friday and is dedicated to the female riders. Admission is half price after 5:00 pm. Check out all the aftermarket accessories and apparel. Don’t miss the chance to enter to win a brand new Ninja 300 courtesy of Echo Cycle and Canadian Kawasaki Motors.

The 2017 Show will feature a variety of exhibitors representing clubs, associations, aftermarket accessories, riding apparel and touring destinations. Two of the clubs that continue to offer something different every year is NORAL and the Alberta Vintage Flat Track Association. The bikes they will have on display have been maintained by their owners, who are always happy to chat with other enthusiasts.

Williams Custom Bikes will be showcasing their first Canadian production model – the Irv 100 at the Motorcycle Show & ATV – Edmonton.

If racing is in your blood, stop by and visit with 16-time Drag Racing Champion, Ethan Barkley who is always eager to share his story and inspire the up-and-comers.
